Sennheiser's third-generation evolution wireless systems have debuted with a variety of system configurations, including the IEM and ENG systems. All evolution G3 transmitters can be synchronized with the receivers via an infrared interface; the frequency-management function is said to make more compatible frequencies available with all G3 units now having a switching bandwidth of 42 MHz.

Additional features include all metal housings and extended LF response (as low as 25 Hz), and simplified operating menus. Formerly just available on the evolution 500 series, all systems now include user-adjustable equalization and "Soundcheck Mode," providing continuous audio level and field strength measurement. Rechargeable battery packs are available for all systems. The G3 300 and 500 Series feature dual transmitter power modes and have integral Ethernet connections for frequency management via PC with Sennheiser's provided software.

The 500 Series handheld transmitters are equipped with capsules from the evolution 900 stage series, while the clip-on microphone is the MKE 2-Gold.
