Pro Co Sound Cough Drop Momentary Muting Switch by Kevin Becka
The cleverly named, bright red Cough Drop ($55.49) has the look of guitar stomp box. I used it on a tabletop, but it's sturdy enough for floor use as well. Its top is angled toward the user and there is a single top-mounted momentary switch near the front. The XLR I/O is mounted on either side and is clearly labeled. The targeted use is broadcasters or anyone needing a momentary kill switch in-line with their microphone. Press to mute and release to unmute - couldn't be simpler! Construction is solid from the switch right down to the inlaid rubberized tracks on the bottom. None of those glued-on rubber feet to lose. All corners are rounded and the box is held together with eight screws. For easy access there is a removable plastic panel on the bottom, also of sturdy design. My only complaint is that the switch is not completely silent, but that may be of no matter to those using it for live situations. The Cough Drop is a well-made problem-solver worthy of consideration for anyone looking for a momentary mute switch. Contact Pro Co Sound, Inc. at 800-253-7360.
