Henry Engineering TwinMatch Impedance/Level Interface

Henry Engineering's TwinMatch is a dual stereo level and impedance converter box designed to convert two sets of consumer or semi-pro stereo outputs to pro-spec 600 ohm balanced lines. A typical application is for incorporating unbalanced CD, MiniDisc, cassette or DAT players into a professional setup.
Like other Henry Engineering products, TwinMatch is encased in a black aluminum enclosure with a signature blue top panel. It can be wall-mounted or can function as a tabletop unit. It accepts two stereo pairs of -10dBV unbalanced audio inputs and provides two stereo pairs of balanced outputs. All connections are on barrier strips.
On the face of the unit are four recessed gain controls that are adjustable to provide +4 to +8 dBm output levels. The TwinMatch has a built in power supply (internally selectable for either 115 or 230 volts); the two-prong power cable is permanently attached to the box.
At Radio Free Asia, where I am a senior technical producer, I found many uses for the Henry TwinMatch, including bringing a consumer-level portable MD recorder used for field recording up to balanced +4 dBm for interfacing with one of our many Yamaha 02R consoles. In all cases, the TwinMatch performed its duties with no problems.
You would have to look closely to spot the Henry Engineering products in typical studios, radio stations or production houses. But rest assured, there are thousands of them out there doing their job day in and day out with nary a complaint. Based on my previous experience with Henry Engineering products, these units will do their thing, quietly and out of sight for many, many years. After using the box in a variety of applications, I have no reason to suspect the TwinMatch is any different. What it lacks in pizzazz and "gear appeal," the TwinMatch more than makes up for in utility, reliability and price.
